If you want a dead simple recipe that’s almost impossible to screw up, below is a great beginner recipe that has a lot of fans. It has very few steps and very few ingredients. If you’re a confident chef and think you can kick it up a few notches then there are much more advanced recipes online you can try or if you’re feeling adventurous you can make your own.

What you’ll need:

*1 diced medium onion

*4 carp fillets

*1 diced green pepper

*1/2 teaspoon MSG

*1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

*1/4 teaspoon pepper

*4 ounces water

*4 ounces white wine

Toss your pepper and onion into a pan and saut it until it’s glazed. Toss in the rest of the ingredients, give it a thorough stir and cover it to cook until it’s done. Then just serve it and garnish appropriately with some greens or a salad.

This is one of the more basic carp recipes but it’s a great start if you’re new to cooking or new to cooking fresh fish. Obviously you’ll also need to know how to properly gut and filet a fish but that’s a completely different topic for discussion. There are a lot of great free YouTube videos and other resources online that can give you a step by step version of how to do this and get the fish prepared to cook with.

If you’re interested in more advanced carp recipes or just want a larger choice of simpler recipes to choose from there are tons of great cook books out there that focus on this variety of fish as well as online sites that do as well. If you’re a fan of beer or wine, coupling one of your favorite beverages with the carp recipe you choose is a great idea but make sure it’s suitable and goes well with the dish first. I wouldn’t buy it, nor that reel, for carp fishing. carp tend to be pretty hard on gear. Get something that’ll hold up chief. That combo will not.

And that’s way too damn much for that pole.

Get a good E- glass(or Eglass/graphite composite) rod and a BAITCASTING reel with at least a 5 to 1 gear ratio able to hold up to at least 20lb test line.

good carp lakes to fish in France with my two teenage sons?

Question by 4 little ducks: good carp lakes to fish in France with my two teenage sons?
I would like to take my two sons age 12 and 15 carp fishing in France but having read some reviews i am a bit concerned and don’t want to take them somewhere un family friendly (i.e beer heads and stoners etc). I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for a nice family friendly French lake where the carp fishing is good 30lb + and the boys will be welcome

It all depends on the kind of accommodation you want and which part of France you want to head for. France is a pretty big place! However, I have stayed at this place in Provence a couple of times. Unfortunately their website doesn’t make enough mention of their lake, but it is about 4 acres and an excellent location. Although they do camping they also have statics. The lake contains a lot of 30lb + carp – my biggest was 36 lbs. It is very child friendly and it is a lovely area to get out and about in too.
