what does the receiver do on bite alarms is it needed? i am getting this set as i go carp fishing but don’t go regularly

It is a radio receiver intended to allow you to move away from the alarms but still hear them if you get a run. The alarms transmit an alarm to the receiver.
Personally I never leave my rods unattended, but they do have some use if you are camping overnight. You can take the receiver into your bivvy at night and be confident you will still hear the alarms if you are asleep.
