great information and a really nice read,
this guide is fantastically well written, nicely illustrated and contains excellent information for would be carpers. my initial thoughts were that it was going to be a case of “style over substance”, especially when i first flicked through and saw fairly large, well-spaced text, short chapters and lots of photos. don’t be deceived; the guy really knows his stuff and presents his knowledge and experience in a very readable style, packed with useful tips on carp behaviour and tactics for catching them. the diagrams in the text are clear & informative.
he writes primarily for clear water settings (such as you might find in Spain, for instance) rather than the murky ponds we often come across in the UK, but the principles remain the same.
i also own “carp on the fly” by barry reynolds et al. which is also excellent, but if i could only buy one book it would be this one for its clear layout and lively delivery.
