After spending a day fishing for carp, either in the hot sun or maybe even on that rainy day. You might have developed a powerful hunger. If you want a dead simple recipe that’s almost impossible to screw up, below is a great beginner recipe that has a lot of fans. It has very few steps and very few ingredients. If you’re a confident chef and think you can kick it up a few notches then there are much more advanced recipes online you can try or if you’re feeling adventurous you can make your own.
What you’ll need:
*1 diced medium onion
*4 carp fillets
*1 diced green pepper
*1/2 teaspoon MSG
*1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
*1/4 teaspoon pepper
*4 ounces water
*4 ounces white wine
Toss your pepper and onion into a pan and saut it until it’s glazed. Toss in the rest of the ingredients, give it a thorough stir and cover it to cook until it’s done. Then just serve it and garnish appropriately with some greens or a salad.
This is one of the more basic carp recipes but it’s a great start if you’re new to cooking or new to cooking fresh fish. Obviously you’ll also need to know how to properly gut and filet a fish but that’s a completely different topic for discussion. There are a lot of great free YouTube videos and other resources online that can give you a step by step version of how to do this and get the fish prepared to cook with.
If you’re interested in more advanced carp recipes or just want a larger choice of simpler recipes to choose from there are tons of great cook books out there that focus on this variety of fish as well as online sites that do as well. If you’re a fan of beer or wine, coupling one of your favorite beverages with the carp recipe you choose is a great idea but make sure it’s suitable and goes well with the dish first.
