Question by The dancing cat: Where can I find a carp to buy (a fresh water fish)? Raleigh, NC?
I have been looking in grocery stores and internet, I see bunch of advertisements about selling/buying pet fish. But I want to eat this fish It is a middle-European tradition to eat a fried carp on Xmas Eve dinner. I am originally from Europe and I like to stick to this tradition. Finding the right fish each year is a big issue…. It is easy to find a tilapia or other freshwater fish, but a carp is a big problem. Anyone has an idea?
I have called all 3 places you named and none of them carry carp Looks like I have to look for some substitute kind this year again.
So I just called Capital Seafood and they said they do not sell carp. They sell cod. I appreciate your help, though!

Have you tried Fresh Market? There are a number of them around here. They might.
Maybe Trader Joes? Its on Kildaire and Cary Parkway.
What about Wholefoods
Found it! Capital Seafood sells it. They have a shipment coming in tomorrow.
Their info is 676 Maywood Ave, Raleigh (919) 838-1300
I guess you are out of luck then sorry. They told me they did sell it. I wonder why.

Capital Seafood on Maywood Ave or Earp’s Seafood on Saunders Street would be the first two places I would think to call.
